Jim founded Avitage in June of 1994 to fulfill on the opportunities for multimedia in marketing and selling. The company strategy and execution are his overall responsibility.
The idea for the company’s software-enabled-services business model was seeded during five years as an Account and District Manager for ADP. The publishing methodologies employed by the company were the byproduct of four years with the electronic publishing division of Ziff Davis. The vision for the potential of innovative approaches to video for marketing and sales communications began during five years with Visage, an early company in the world of interactive videodisc.
Jim is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross and has a Masters in Business Administration from Babson College.
As Chief Software Developer, Dr. Michael Finch has managed the Avitage software offering from the beginning. He is responsible for its overall architecture and implementation. Dr. Finch obtained a doctorate for original research in Mathematics and Theoretical Physics from Sussex University in England.
He worked on early computer systems while trading on the Chicago and New York Commodity Exchanges. For more than 15 years, Dr. Finch has designed, developed and deployed media-management applications.
Jim engages with clients to deliver customized marketing solutions to fit with their strategies and go to market plans.
Jim has ten years of operations management experience working with Digital Equipment and CVS Stores. He later became a Partner at Benchmarking Partners, a Boston based consulting firm working with technology solution providers and their Fortune 100 clients. Much of his consulting was on go to market strategies, sales enablement, and supporting buyers of complex solutions. After fifteen years as a consultant Jim led marketing teams for two start-up supply chain solutions.
Jim is a graduate of the University of Connecticut and earned his MBA at Northeastern University.
